We take great care to describe any and all flaws a book may have. We understand the physical condition of a book--how worn or hopefully, unworn it is--has a large impact on its value. All defects are considered in pricing. For the sake of time, we don't always describe every positive aspect of a book's condition. Books with dust jackets get two grades--the first for the book, second for the jacket.

 

Below is our order of conditions from best to worst. 

• Like New - Without any defects.
• Fine - Almost pristine, with allowances only for age.
• Near Fine - The most appropriate level for almost-perfect books. There may be one or two small defects. Any defects that don't fall under the category of "shelf wear" will be noted. Will not contain any writing or markings.
• Very Good - A copy with one or more defects and/or dust jacket wear, from light rubbing and sunning to short tears and small nicks. May contain minor writing or markings.
• Good - Complete but with defects that are readily apparent: fragile binding, heavily rubbed or chipped jacket, noticeably bumped corners, faded jacket or spine. May contain writing or markings.
• Acceptable - Major aesthetic defects OR functional defects.
• Fair - Both aesthetic and functional defects. Strictly a reading copy.

We grade conservatively, which means you're more likely to receive a book in better condition than described rather than worse. If you are unhappy with your purchase and feel our description was inaccurate, we always offer free returns.
